Welcome to the Encyclopedia of Haitian Studies, a peer-reviewed reference project publishing analytical entries on the concepts, debates, histories, and intellectual traditions that shape Haitian studies.

The Encyclopedia is published online by Éditions Charesso and Presses universitaires d’Haïti / Haiti University Press, with the aim of building a durable bilingual knowledge infrastructure. Entries appear in English and French, with additional language versions planned as resources allow.

Use the site to browse and cite entries designed for research, teaching, and public scholarship. Each published entry is structured, source-grounded, and issued with stable publication metadata.

For contributors

The Encyclopedia works by pre-approval. Full entries are accepted only after an entry proposal has been reviewed and approved by the editorial team. If you would like to contribute, please consult the Submissions page for proposal requirements and the submission pathway.
